Cambrils plays proud host to two markets that are popular destinations for both tourists and locals in the surrounding area: the weekly general market and the antiques market. Both of these markets offer you the opportunity to get a taste of local life in Cambrils. They also both take place in the old town area, so if you haven't yet ventured out of the port and beach area, this could be your motivation to go and check out the historical part of Cambrils.

This page provides details of both of the markets that take place in Cambrils with descriptions of what products are on offer.

Cambrils General Market

Every Wednesday in Cambrils a large general market takes place. It provides a scene of bright colours, lively market traders and general hustle and bustle. Here you are more likely to hear cries of 'un euro un euro', rather than the usual 'pound a pound'!

It is a good place to go to pick up anything from cheap clothes to fresh fruit and vegetables sold by the local farmers. It is also a good place to find other local produce, such as honey and olive oil. A large part of this market is quite practical - you can buy the likes of kitchen utensils and batteries - so if you are looking for somewhere to buy gifts to bring home you may have better luck at the antiques market (see below).

Even if you do not plan on buying anything, it is worth taking a stroll around the stalls at this general market - you can get a real taste of local Spanish life and buy some 'churros' (long traditional Spanish doughnuts sold in paper cones) to eat on your way round.

Cambril's Old Town Square
Cambril's Old Town Square

Deep in the heart of the old town (or 'Casco Antiguo' as it is known by locals), every Saturday (or one Saturday of each month off-peak) you will find an antique market in the main square.

This small square is picturesque in itself - flanked by historic buildings and with a small fountain at its centre - making it the perfect setting for a small antiques fair. If you are looking for antique jewellery, ornaments, books and other relics, this is the place to look. It is a good place to find an interesting gift to bring home to friends or family.

As Cambrils is a tourist town, the stall holders will be used to communicating with people from all over the world, so do not be afraid to have a go at haggling just like you would at home.
